Just a quick post from me today! I'm up to my elbows in paint today and still need to get the new grab bag up in the store! Lately I've been wishing and dreaming about opening my own Studio here in Mesa where we can have workshops from teachers all over the country! It would be amazing! But anyway I digress....one of the things I've been doing in my spare time (is there any such thing???) is looking at pictures online of all the AMAZING Anthropologie displays! Seriously they are incredible....if you have never been lucky enough to go inside and see them for yourself.........check them out on this google search!

Someday..... in my own Studio.......someday soon I hope! :D

{Thursday Nonsense} Thank You Mom!

This last weekend was Mother's Day, I am so grateful for my own mom and that I am a mom too. Sometimes Mother's Days were really hard as I adjusted myself to the lost dream of a BUNCH of kids--but I DO have one wonderful daughter I adore so much and I am totally at peace with that part of my life now.

Sunday morning we had a few hours before Mother's Day dinner and I decided to "ditch" my original card for my mom and make my own. I used to LOVE to make cards, something I just lost along the way. Once I sat down and got started though I just had a wonderful time! This card was a full 8.5x11! It was huge! And in true "daughter" style from the good old days I made my mom coupons that went inside for dinner and a movie with just the girls, not exactly the "I promise to clean up my room" coupons from 2nd grade but still I just felt a need to go back to simpler times this year.

Sometimes I need to remember to slow down and enjoy the little things in life...like making mom a card.

Create a mixed media project of your choice by recycling or up-cycling something

Here is my sample piece as inspiration for you:

I upcycled a vintage cigar box that I bought at a flea market.

I made a fabric flower (machine stitching, handbeading on petals), using a pattern I bought at the craft store but there are many free patterns to be googled online.

I printed out strips of patterned paper from Tangie's digital kits. The pre-designed papers saved me a lot of time. I used Quickity Split'N Print Vol. 6, Quickity Split'N Print Vol. 4, Quickity Split'N Print Vol. 2 By Tangie, and Quickity Split'N Print Vol. 5

I used StayzOn Ink and stamped Flourishes onto the cigar box and over the adhered printed paper.

I have the word "Treasures" in letter stickers. Also the "Open Here" pin is a found object, as is the bottle cap that I flattened with my Sizzix Big Shot and added bling to the center.

Happy Cinco De Mayo Everyone! In Arizona the chips n salsa are flying off the shelves and every Mexican restaurant in town is have a Fiesta! We're going out this afternoon to our favorite in town! I love it! Anybody that knows me knows that I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner 365 days a year and never get sick of it! Recently we found a new recipe for healthy refried beans, YUMMY! I'll have to share it sometime with everyone if you are interested! It's fun to see the different cultural holidays in our state celebrate in different ways and it's exciting to get to be a part of it now and then!

I apologize for the delay in announcing the winner as I was in bed sick all weekend long, plus migraines on top of that. Nevermind me, let's get on to the GOOD NEWS!

The challenge was to create a "Reliquary Doll" using a Mixed Media technique plus hybrid using Studio Tangie product. See Details here.

The winner was determined per a random number drawn online using the website Random.org and numbers are assigned as the contestants entered their finished projects so the first entry is #1, second entry is #2, etc. here are the results...DRUMROLL PLEASE...

{Thursday Nonsense} Affirmations

Hello Everyone! Whew it's been a crazy two weeks for sure! Sometimes I feel like I forget to sit down and just take a few deep breathes and remember what is really important! Do you ever feel like that? I've decided to really spend some time making an "affirmations" journal this month and I'm going to make a few little things for my desktop to help remind me! Do any of you use affirmations? Affirmations are statements written in the present tense, in your voice as if they have already come true, or in statements of fact to help remind you of things that are important to you.

I find that they really help me! Here is one of my favorites to help keep me grounded!

Here some ideas for more:
I am happy and healthy.
I am grateful for my life and all it's abundance.
I appreciate all the lessons life teaches me.
I am calm and at peace.
Love is at the center of my life at all times.

Try it for a month if you never have! They are wonderful!

{Thursday Nonsense} Spring Cleaning of the Mind

Good Morning Everyone!

What a great day this is. I am really excited to be doing a bit of spring cleaning today. Not the usual variety...you know pulling the couch out to clean all those would be lost treasures, finding money in the sofa cushions (far more likely popcorn and cracker crumbs from my nieces), flipping mattresses, cleaning out drawers, taking a load to the local thrift shop. I'll be getting to that soon enough, it seems to be something you just can't help but doing this time of year! Plus to top if all off, the weather in Arizona has been CRAZY GORGEOUS, usually by this time we want to be soaking in an ice bath everyday! But the last few weeks we've had the doors and windows open with a magnificent spring breeze coming through the house!

The spring cleaning I'm doing now seems to be of the mind! I was in a bit of a funk for the last few days and I just could not figure out why! There was no reason to feel that way, and I'm usually a "Keep Moving Forward" kind of person, so what was the deal with THAT? Then I realized that I have hundreds of "ideas" and "ideals" and "dreams" all clogged up in my brain that either don't serve my current ambitions or had been forgotten! It's time to pull them all out, reasses them discard the ones that have served thier purpose, let fly the ones that aren't a priority now! It has been liberating and exciting.

Have you had a chance to do the same lately? It's an amazing experience and will help you move forward with your priorities all in check again! Our minds are incredible that way are they not?

Happy Tuesday and I am pretty excited about the interview today! Because dear SpunMonkey, I met her in real life last week in Las Vegas! In real life she is Jo Ann, and I saw her without the bandaids over her eyes! tee hee. She is a beautiful woman and her spirit is so wonderful. I enjoyed meeting her and hope you enjoy her interview. Do you still (or did you ever) paper scrap?

Yes, I’ve always been a cut ‘n paster. As far back as I can remember, I would decorate letters, envelopes, binders, etc. I remember typing text on a manual typewriter as a kid and cutting out the word strips to add to scrapbooks, with a bit of doodling and photos. Then there was the word processor and finally the computer and graphics and Photoshop. I guess I’ve always been hybrid. For the past 2 years, due to space limitations, I’m almost exclusively digital, with the occasional hybrid project.

What is your favorite LO you have ever done for Studio Tangie?

What do you do when (you think) no one is looking?

I talk to my animals. I treat them like they are human. I know I’m in trouble if they ever answer back!

If you were going to be stuck on a deserted island, which 5 books, movies, people and foods would you take along?

I couldn’t go with just 5 people, because I’d have to leave out someone in my family. I would have to take my pets, too! As for movies, it would be hard to choose which Rogers and Hammerstein musical to take, maybe South Pacific. For sure Mary Poppins, Fiddler on the Roof, the Labrynth and Princess Bride. I’d take my Nook so I could download lots of books. I’d take strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, yogurt and cookies!

What is your favorite kit from Studio Tangie, will you show us your LO using that kit?

This one’s hard! Here are my two recent faves: “What I Love to Do”

and “Dance Like Everyone is Watching.”

What is your favorite thing about digital scrapbooking?

Step Backward, the Alt+Ctrl+Z key combo, of course!

Which is your wish that is not yet fulfilled?

To learn to speak Portuguese.

What was your favorite toy when you were a kid?

Well, it wasn’t really a toy. I got a real sewing machine for my 9th birthday. Started out sewing purses and dresses and by the time I was in junior high school, I was sewing most of my clothes.

I also loved “poster” paints. I used to paint rocks, wood pieces, cast plaster, animal cracker boxes, (the ones with the string handles - used them as little purses.) I also liked to paint on the canvas binders for school.

How many languages do you speak?

Only one, English.

As you can see SpunMonkey has her own and fabulous style. That she accomplishes this digitally totally blows my mind! I remember the first page I saw of hers, "I Can"

and I really fell in love with her work. She inspires me to try different things and to look outside the box, and I love that! Perhaps you might give the SpunMonkey style a try?

{Thursday Nonsense} Las Vegas Quick Recap

It's been quite the week catching up from Las Vegas! We had so much fun, a great time was had by all. I really enjoyed teaching my classes and meeting all my "online" friends! It really was an amazing experience. I don't have many pictures as I was super busy with everything else, but I'm hoping to get more as people send them to me (hint hint ;0).

Team Turquoise at the Reception Friday night! I STILL am in shock that we won! Seriously we didn't think we had a chance!

One of the pictures for the photo scavenger hunt Friday night for the team building excercises. The best part of the photo hunt was that our team stuck together the WHOLE time--I was nervous about this before it started but it turned out to be a really great time!

On Sunday Molly, My mom and Cami W went to the Cosmopolitan to look around at this 4.5 BILLION dollar hotel. It was seriously quite the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life! (This chandelier is several stories tall/long).

This is the buffet we ate at before coming home, oh my gosh! It was delicious, the best food we had BY FAR the whole time we were in Vegas.

These cute little vending machines are all over the Cosmo--you can buy little pieces of ART. It was really a neat concept!

It was such a great time! I can't beleive it came and went so fast, but alas I suppose that is how most big things are in our life that we plan, they seem so far away then they are over before we know it! Anne is lots more to say about the Vegas class on the Art Journal Caravan blog too!

Welcome to a new Monthly Challenge from the Creative Team at Studio Tangie. I am the host, Julie Ann. It is the Mixed Maniacs Hybrid Challenge where you can win an awesome, generous, fantastic ~~$15.00~~, no -wait, Tangie just upped it to $25.00 Gift Certificate to Studio Tangie for playing along!

What is the challenge? It is a mixed media challenge involving hybrid design. First, you probably know hybrid is digital + physical products. Second, "Mixed media, in visual art, refers to an artwork in the making of which more than one medium has been employed." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mixed_media

Each month I will give you a challenge THEME that requires you to:

use digital
use physical product
focus on a mixed media technique which includes collage, vintage items, paint, fabric, assemblage, etc.
use Studio Tangie product

That's it! Mixed media is a lot of fun, allowing you to think outside your box, and create awesome 3-d items.

April's inspiration is from the fabulous book Mixed Mania: Recipes for Delicious Mixed-Media Creations by Debbi Crane and Cheryl Prater.

I loved one of the "Main Courses" from the book, Debbi's Reliquary Girls - on pages 45 to 51. These are assemblage dolls that hold "odds and ends" in the center. Debbi used the back of a 6" canvas as her niche to hold the odds and ends for her reliquary dolls. I chose to use a small square frame instead. Here is my version of a Reliquary Girl, her name is Anaëlle

How To

1. First, I started with the frame and added the sticker. I used Stickles Glitter Glue on the outside of the frame to add some sparkle. (I bought the frame at the Dollar Section in Michael's).

2. I cut a strip of fabric. I used a needle and thread to make a long running-stitch along one edge. I pulled it to gather and create the skirt. I attached it to the frame at the "waist". I added a yellow trim and tied a bow as a belt.

3. I printed the head, arms, and legs from Tangie's AMUSEing Art Dolls Collection. I fussy-cut them out, and then backed them with black cardstock. I then glued them with my favorite adhesive, Fabri-Tac to the frame.

4. I added the paint palette, button, and brad as finishing touches.

So here is Your Challenge:

Theme: Create a Reliquary Figure - Male or Female? Will you honor someone? What features to highlight? Will you create a fantasy character? How will you express their story through color, texture, and symbolism?
Use physical products such as fabric, wire, scrapbooking paper or embellishments
Technique: There will be a center feature such as a niche or frame holding object(s). You can achieve this by using a frame like I did, or a box, or a backwards canvas, etc.
Use Studio Tangie product in any way that you wish. You can use her Art Dolls, or any papers or embellishments, print them out and make sure to properly credit what it is, and where it is used.

Upload to the Scrapbookgraphics gallery, and then link in the comment section for today's blog post to be entered for the random drawing for the lavish gift certificate of ~~$15.00~~{ $25.00 } to Studio Tangie by April 25th. Winner will be announced by April 30th.

Meet and Greet: Julie Ann

This week is one of the new ladies to the Core Team for Tangie Baxter. Julie Ann. I have to tell you, her energy and creative spirit is a joy to be around. She is busy, busy, busy, and I am betting she wouldn't want it any other way. Lets learn a bit about the lady behind all this talent:

How often do you go over the speed limit?
I almost always drive 9 miles over the speed limit.

How old are you in your dreams?
That's a good question! I never thought about it before. I suppose my current age at the time of the dream.
Do you still (or did you ever) paper scrap? I do, I did. I started off as a paper scrapper in 2004. I'm not ever going to be able to give it up.

Do you consider yourself a traveler? Where have you traveled? I love to go to new places with my husband. I would rather the places come to me because I don't like the tiring, exhausting travel part of the journey. My favorite trips are to beach locations, and I'm not a big city person. I've been to a dozen different states in the U.S., plus Canada, Mexico, France, Switzerland, and Italy.

What did you get in trouble for the most when you were a kid?
Julie Ann: I was pretty good as a kid, always the teacher's pet, and didn't get into much trouble at home. Mostly I got into trouble for not doing my chores right away, instead I was daydreaming!

What is your favorite thing about digital scrapbooking? One of my favorite things about digital scrapbooking is, having come from paper scrapping, the ability to re-size anything I want! It's so awesome to be able to get things to fit just right. I really miss that ability when I work with physical products.

What were the three happiest moments in your life so far? 1) Graduating from Michigan State University - that was a surprise that day, I didn't expect to feel so joyous
2) My marriage - I was absolutely, uncontrollable overwhelmed with happiness
3) Celebrating my 40th birthday in Mexico - something I dreamed of for about 8 months and loved every moment

Did you have a nickname in middle school or high school? I did. In middle school, I had a teacher nickname me J.Bob because my last name was Bobinchek.
Then in high school in 9th grade, for months before my family moved out of state for my dad's dad - which was supposed to be to Indiana but turned out to be to New York, I had a teacher call me Indiana Bobinchek, kinda like Indiana Jones.
I never let anyone call me Jules, except for one person. Never liked that nickname.
In college, a roommate called me Jellybean. And of course, my husband has lots of nicknames for me, cutesy ones that you don't want to hear.

Which is your wish that is not yet fulfilled?I always wanted to go see the Oprah show in person. The times I've been to Chicago she wasn't filming. This year I'm not particular motivated though, so I guess this will be a wish unfulfilled, although I wouldn't mind meeting Oprah in some other fashion one day.

What was your favorite toy when you were a kid? I liked setting up my Barbie's furniture and making rooms for them, but I was really bored actually playing with the dolls. LOL I guess it foreshadowed that one day I would study Interior Design. I also really loved playing the game Mastermind with my dad.

If you had to change your name (first or last or both) what would you change it to?
I had always liked the name Rachelle and Raquel growing up. I chose Rachelle as my confirmation name, as a variation of Rachel. I thought one day my pen name might be Julie Ann Rachelle, but I've grown out of that now. I like my married name just fine. It sure beats "Bobinchek." LOL

Although Julie Ann has only been on the team a short while, she has filled her gallery with some remarkable pages with Studio Tangie designs. I have to be completely honest, hybrid folks scare me with their ability to do things with such ease. Julie Ann does them and I feel encourage to try. Just look at this beautiful Altered Heart Candy Box:

Julie Ann is not just hybrid, the woman can scrap like no tomorrow also. I fell in love with her page for the AJC #11. Her quote and just the whole page to me, is like a grand mantra for life!

I hope you have enjoyed this little meet and greet of Julie Ann, she is a lovely lady and I am so glad to have her as part of the Tangie Team!!

{Thursday Nonsense} Working Tutorials for the AJC

What a year it's been so far on the Art Journal Caravan, oh my! I've been up to my eyeballs learning how to video and edit my own tutorials! It's been an absolute blast and I do enjoy learning new things...keeps you young, you know!

This is a board book project I just finished up for the March Adventure Quest on the Caravan and I'm really happy with how it turned out considering it wasn't very time consuming. It was very relaxing and it was fun to pick some of my favorite "simple wisdom" sayings! Here are just a few pictures!

Look at the cute little face! Next up on our VIP interview tour is Karen aka as kern! She has so kindly answered a few of my deep probing questions, so we can all get to know her a bit better.

1. Name (any story behind your name)?Karen Arlene Feller Courtright-- My parents named me Karen as it was a well know name, but not very popular. That soon became a big joke. In my Sunday School class there were five Karen's. In college, we shared a phone between two rooms. One of the girls on the other side was also named Karen. Fortunately, she was very short and I was a bit taller. Most college friends don't get last names, so the question when answering the phone for a Karen, was "do you want the big one or the little one?" Then, at my first retail job, I sold major appliances and another Karen worked in electronics. The two departments were directly across from each other, so people were constantly getting me confused with her. The only other thing I know about my name is it's a derivative of Catherine.

2. What continent do you live on?
I live in Crookston, Minnesota, in the United States.

3. What was your favorite subject in school?
Music--I played mostly the clarinet, very little piano, and on rare occasion, the organ.

4. Do you have any animals? What kind?
I have one fur baby named Snickerdoodle. She is about 16 years old and is a tortoise shell feline.

5. Tell us about your favorite teacher in school:

6. When you are scrapping, what are the sounds around you?
Generally, I listen to christian music and talk radio. Or, I play christian music (contemporary, traditional, and Sacred Harp), epic movie tracks, or what is considered "new age" Cd's. Since my computer is in my basement, I also get to listen to the furnace going on and off! Oh, yeah, my cat purring (when she's on my shoulder and I'm working one-handed or her snoring in her little kitty bed on the floor near my feet.

7. Do you dance like crazy, when no one is looking?

In my younger years, I used to, not so much anymore.
8. What would subject or material would you like to see in a kit from Tangie?
Something in the religious genre.

9. What do you sing in the shower, if you do sing (we know you do!)?

Believe it or not, I don't sing in the shower. For one thing, I need something bigger than a bucket in which to carry my tune--I just make joyful noises. Shower time for me is the "down time" that I use to process things.

10. Do you buy cookies or things from kids that knock on your door?
I do if they are my neighbors or kids that I know. I had to sell cookies, candy, and magazines when I was little, so I know how hard it can be. If a parent is selling them for their kid, I generally will not buy anything as I don't believe they are teaching their child anything.

11. What is your favorite book of all time, and why?
"The Shack" is probably my most favorite book aside from the Bible. The story really put a different perspective on Christ and God and helped me to see and understand things in a clearer way. It was a very emotional book for me.

12. What do you think when you hear rain start outside?

I absolutely love to hear the rain fall. It's very rhythmic and soothing to me. Also, I like it when it thunders and lightnings.
13. What is your favorite layout you have done with your VIP goodies from Studio Tangie?
Well, I would have to say it's my ATC since it's the only thing I have accomplished with her VIP items. However, I'm very anxious to really start scrapping with her kits, etc. I really like every single one, and yes, I've looked at every single thing in her shop and have probably purchased over half (or more) of it.

14. Where is your dream vacation?

If I had to pick just one, I probably would have to say Scotland. My great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from there. He was born in Inverness and fought in one of the more infamous wars, was taken prisoner by England, was released, and then came over to America. It would be so neat to see where he was born and to see if I could find anymore about his ancestry. Also, I love anything Celtic, especially the music.
15. Can we get a snap shot of at where you create?
I guess that could be managed. It's just a small computer stand in a drab, small space in my basement (and a little messy!).

16. Which is your favorite genre of movies ? (Comedy/ Romance/Suspense/Action/

Horror)
HORROR, Sci-fi, and Suspense thrillers!!

17. Which is your favorite time of the day, are you a morning person or a night person?
Definitely a night owl. I get up around 4 or 5 p.m. and work/play until 8 a.m. when I go to bed. It's not uncommon for me to get phone calls at 2 or 3 in the morning. My mom, my only sibling, and I are the night owls. My father was a definite day person--to bed at 10 p.m. and up at 6 a.m. every day.

18. What is your idea of fun? If given a choice to skip work for a day, how would you spend the entire day?
First, I would start the day with a nice warm bath and read in the tub for awhile. Then I would do my devotions, do some digital scrapping, watch Dr. Phil on TV, exercise, check my e-mail, play with my kitty, talk to myself, do some more digital scrapping, break bread with a friend, watch a video or some TV, and end up doing some more scrapping. Probably not a very exciting day for most people, but it would suit me just fine.

19. If given a complete freedom to start afresh, what profession would you choose and why?
Probably, I would have gone into personnel management. Having a highly sensitive personality, I can usually pick up on things easier and much more quickly than the average person. I love to people watch, and having worked in retail management, I think it definitely would have suited me much better. Plus, it would have had better pay.

20. How old are you in your dreams?

In my dreams I am 17. That was one of the best time periods of my life. Even though I'm now 57, I'm not afraid to get silly or goofy with my friends. It's good to laugh as it truly is the best medicine.

Kern made the sweetest ATC of her loves and life. I amenchanted with that cute face! There is so much in life to tell, I am glad she is on the VIP tour.

Today we get to visit with one of the VIP guest on the Tangie Baxter team. The VIPs are here for a few months and get to play and laugh and make things with Tangie's fun and exciting designs. Todays, VIP guest is Scrappie Irene.
What continent do you live on?
   I live in the Netherlands, Europe. But I would love to live in Italy.
Do you have any animals? What kind?
   We don't have animals, but our neighbor's cat is visiting us everyday and he sleeps at our home every night.
When you are scrapping, what are the sounds around you?
   Only the sound of the television downstairs, or the talking of my husband when he is sitting next to me on one of our other computers.
What would subject or material would you like to see in a kit from Tangie?
   I love all her kits, her style is amazing, so I don't know... I don't miss anything in her kits.
What do you sing in the shower, if you do sing (we know you do!)?
   First of all, I prefer the bath and let's say I scrap better than I sing. So no singing from me in the bathroom.
What is your favorite book of all time, and why?
    All the Harry Potter books. Why? Because everything is possible in those books.
What do you think when you hear rain start outside?
    Let's stay inside and scrap! Or when I have to go to work: Oh no, I have to wear my rain cloths on my bike!
Where is your dream vacation?
    No doubt: Italy    I'm half Italian and I love to visit my family there and there is a lot more to discover for me!
Which is your favorite genre of movies ? (Comedy/ Romance/Suspense/Action/Horror)
    I like a mix of romantic action movies. I really enjoyed the new movie The Tourist, but I also like the Harry Potter movies and the good old Grease.
If given a complete freedom to start afresh, what profession would you choose and why?
    I would have done a study DTP and would have had a more creative job in stead of bookkeeping what I do now. I started giving digital scrapbooking lessons last year, it's fun to teach others something creative.

Irene is a very prolific scrapper, she seems to always have a new page ready and up in the gallery. I watched her last year on the Art Journal Caravan with pure determination, finish the whole Caravan. That took some fortitude. I can't imagine how she does what she does, but her page she did about stretching time must take place in her world.
We welcome Irene for her stay as a VIP, and hope you all enjoy her work too!

If you have been in the digiscrapping world for any amount of time, you have seen the fabulous work of Cheryl, aka gonewiththewind. She is not only a fabulous scrapper, but a wonderful mate on Tangie's creative team. Cheryl was gone for a bit, and we just welcomed her back and (tee hee) we get to grill her in the interview. Please sit and enjoy this little interview:

#1 How often do you go over the speed limit?

I think that would be every time I get behind the wheel. I do manage to keep within 5 to 10 miles of the speed limit.
#2 What was your worst dating experience?

When my boyfriend came to pick me up for a date that I spent an hour-and-a-half getting ready for, and then he broke up with me in the driveway. Grrr.
#3 How old are you in your dreams?

Usually my current age.
#4 Do you still (or did you ever) paper scrap?

I paper scrapped for 10 years. The last paper page I scrapped was last year to prove to some paper scrapper friends that I still could!
#5 Do you consider yourself a traveler? Where have you traveled?

No, I’m not a traveler. I’ve traveled through lots of states. Stayed in D.C., Maryland, Delaware, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Arizona and then I went to Canada one time ~ gosh, I think that’s all.
#6 What is your favorite LO you have ever done for Studio Tangie?

I think that would have to be this layout that I completed for My Scrapbook Art’s Ultimate Artist Contest in 2010 ~ It was a labor of love ~ one of my fave journal pages yet.

#7 What do you do when (you think) no one is looking?

I am usually watching other people. LOL So I guess that would be me staring openly at other people. Ha!
#8 If you were going to be stuck on a deserted island, which 5 books, movies, people and foods would you take along?

I would take the Bible (lots of great stories), my husband (great company), Gone With The Wind (who can ever get enough of Scarlett O’Hara?), bread starter (so I could keep making bread ~ I love carbs LOL).
#9 If you could go on a road trip with any person (dead or alive) who would you go with and where would you go?

I would love to go on a tour of the United States with my husband and children. You know, where money is no object and time is in abudance. So we can explore and really learn and experience life without the worries of family obligations, work, school, etc.
#10 What is your favorite kit from Studio Tangie, will you show us your LO using that kit?

Good grief, making a girl pick only one kit. OK, I really love Wonderland.

#11 How did you get started and how long have you been digiscrapping?

I read a tutorial in Creating Keepsakes magazine about making photo collages and adding text to photos. I was hooked from that moment. I started digiscrapping in August 2007.
#12What did you get in trouble for the most when you were a kid?

School work. Not doing it, not doing it well enough . . . I was smart and loved certain subjects like reading. One time my mom put me on reading restrictions when I made a bad grade in math. I’ll never forget that, and I did get my ducks in a row!
#13 What is your favorite thing about digital scrapbooking?

No clean up, along with the ability to edit and destroy without “really” destroying.
#14 What were the three happiest moments in your life so far?

The day I got married and the days my children were born.
#15 Did you have a nickname in middle school or high school?

Sherbyl (pronounced like gerbil)
#16 Which is your wish that is not yet fulfilled?

That I would be healthier and weigh less so I can enjoy my life even more.
#17 What was your favorite toy when you were a kid?

That would be the Barbie Dream House I shared with my sister. It was in three sections and it we often shared with my cousin. So it was cool that it was one house, but we each had our separate pieces.
#18 If you have to choose a movie title for your life story, what would that be?

Pretty Woman. Yes. My prince rescued me and I rescued him right back.
#19 How many languages do you speak?

One ~ English. I took three years of French, but can only remember one poem and some dialogue.
#20 If you had to change your name (first or last or both) what would you change it to?

I think I’d be Scarlett. Ahem.

{Thursday Nonsense} Off to Seattle and The Foundry!

My how time goes by so Fast! Tomorrow we leave for the last minute trip I talked about a few weeks ago! I'm busy sorting through my art supplies--I just CAN'T fit it all ;) something has to stay behind, the kitchen sink perhaps? Doing last minute load of laundry and just generally getting all my ducks in a row to skeeedadle to Seattle! I'm sure my hubby and daughter can hold down the fort, and I'm really excited to get to spend time with my mom and sisters. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures for next Thrusday's post!

Before I leave I wanted to share a project with you that has captured me whole attention as of late! Making fonts--lots and lots of art journaling fonts. They are few and far between! I hope you enjoy "The Foundry" at SBG! There are many more to come, I've been writing my ABC's more times than a kindergartner!

As you can imagine, the team of Tangie Baxter has to be just as diverse and original as she is ALL the time!! There have been some recent additions to the team, and backstage in the CT forum life is kicking and it is time for you to meet some of the new ladies! Each Monday, one will be highlighted, answer some silly questions to make you giggle at the questions and the answers. You will get a picture to remember when you see their gorgeous layouts!

First up, is the creme de' la cream scrapper! Andrea4376 who in real life, drops the numbers and goes by Andrea!

How often do you go over the speed limit?

I have to admit occasionally - tends to depend on whether I have passengers and the area I'm in - I tend to be more careful when I have other people in the car with me.
What was your worst dating experience?

This is tough - I got together with my hubby a few weeks shy of my 17th birthday so didn't really do much dating. I suppose all the dates with him must have gone well seeing as I eventually married him. I do recall one guy who's idea of a good night out was buying my fish and chips and eating it in a bus shelter - never did see him again ! lol
How old are you in your dreams?

Hmm...age doesn't seem to factor in my dreams but I can tell you I am a good few dress sizes smaller !
Do you still (or did you ever) paper scrap?

I used to about 5 years or so ago. I started making keepsake albums for family as gifts. I haven't paper scrapped since discovering digi in Oct 2009.
Do you consider yourself a traveler?

Where have you traveled? I tend to think of myself as more of a homebird. I've been to Amsterdam and Barcelona (along with Wales and Scotland - surprisingly still never been to Ireland despite the relatively short distance). My favourite destination though has to be Orlando, Florida - I'm a total Disney addict.
What is your favorite LO you have ever done for Studio Tangie?

I've been really happy with the way they've all turned out but I think my favourite so far has to be my most recent one :

What do you do when (you think) no one is looking?

Dance - I have two left feet but I'm amazing when no-one is watching :)
If you were going to be stuck on a deserted island, which 5 books, movies, people and foods would you take along?

Only 5 ? That would be my two kids, my hubby and my parents ! I love my family to bits ! If I couldn't take people, I'd have to take a laptop, camera, every series of CSI:Crime Scene Investigation, the latest Jeffery Deaver book and my mum's raspberry pavlova.
If you could go on a road trip with any person (dead or alive) who would you go with and where would you go?

My maternal grandfather. He died when I was 5. I can barely remember him and what I do "remember" I'm not sure are my own memories or if it's what people have told me over the years. I'd love to spend some time getting to know him - from all accounts he was an amazing man.
What is your favorite kit from Studio Tangie, will you show us your LO using that kit?

I totally loved Tribalations - it is such a fun kit and just screamed Dr Seuss to me so I had to scrap that. My page

How did you get started and how long have you been digiscrapping?

I discovered digi in Oct 2009, initially via a site called Mousescrappers for all those Disney scrappers. From there I discovered the stores and designers - I finally took the plunge with some challenges and have been hooked ever since.
What did you get in trouble for the most when you were a kid?

For something my sister did or didn't do. Being the youngest, she only had to blame me and that was me in trouble for the rest of the day.
What is your favorite thing about digital scrapbooking?

No mess - no getting covered in glue, sequins and feathers anymore. No having to think too much about placement as you can move it as much as you like. Being able to reuse supplies over and over and not having to get lots of reprints of photos.
What were the three happiest moments in your life so far?

My wedding day and the birth of my two children.

Did you have a nickname in middle school or high school?

Fraid not - a lot of my friends did - they had names that were easily shortened or could be morphed into some other "cool" name - mine less so.
Which is your wish that is not yet fulfilled?

To be a size 12 :p
What was your favorite toy when you were a kid? It was a little fluffy grey cat called Smokey. Funnily enough, a few weeks ago, my mum discovered it in her attic and he's now cuddled up in my daughter's bed.
If you have to choose a movie title for your life story, what would that be?

Cheesy I know but probably : No Regrets.
How many languages do you speak?

I speak English (I should, I live there), high school French and German and Baby talk.
If you had to change your name (first or last or both) what would you change it to?

I actually love my name - I remember being at school and the only one called Andrea. I don't think I'd change it at all.

Andrea is a joy to be on the team, she is amazing and really shows how each kit from Tangie can be used in the traditional style of scrapbooking. Her very first page on the team, was like wow!!! She kicked it right out the door!

{Thursday Nonsense} Studio Lovin' and Dreamin'

I can't believe it's been only 1 week since my spontaneous adventure last week! It seems like ages ago! I suppose that is a good thing, each day is filled with so much that my life seems longer and fuller...hmmm does that make sense? Anyway I thought I'd share some photos of where I'm going and what I'm doing! I'm taking a class called Collage Explored from the one and only Teesha Moore. Now let me tell you, I have met her several times and her husband Tracy too, they are amazingly generous, warm and friendly! However, at Journalfest they are running the show and don't have time to teach! SO being able to go take a class from her is just really going to be quite the experience for me!

It is my DREAM to have a studio like this one day! I would love to LIVE in a place where you could have a studio like this, wouldn't that just be amazing! My heart beats a million miles an hour just thinking of it! In the meantime, I'll keep working away in my Studio which I LOVE too and serves me for the time being!

Looks like our Tangie is just full of surprises this week! The store is loaded and has new fun things to play with!

First up Altered Art Smart Starts No. 5, these are remarkable to get you moving in a fun and new way. Feel like doing a funky page, and regular templates just don't cut it, give these a whirl and woooohooo, you are off and running!

This one by Tangie seriously made me gasp! I just keep looking at that glow and the little scenes on the side panels and remember why she is The Tangie!!

Take your pick, Quickity Split Borders 1 or Quickity Split Borders 2!

I have to admit these are my mucho favorite! I loved how easy putting a couple together in different ways made a page almost completely done!! They are very colorful and have that zest that makes a layout so fun!

Tangie made me giggle in her description: 12 inches wide these are show stopping starters for any art journal page (or scrapbook page too)! Don't we all want show stopping starters? Oh you know it!!

Now to my passion and love that is so not a secret! I am a hoarder, a hoarder of fonts! I admit it! I have them stacked on my EHD, they spill over out of my control panel, and yes, I even have some that are not unzipped on my desk top! I don't want intervention! I want to write stories and laugh and write more, and with this Mad Hatter Font {Parcel #4 of the Apprentice Art Box} that Tangie hand drew!?

This is a font that is made to be Big, HUGE, extra LARGE with cheese! No, okay, no cheese, but it is made to be big. It looks super fantastic little too, but I loves it tall and spread out all over the place!!

Now you are looking at this and wondering, I like it, but how come all those Art Journal Caravaner's get it for 1/2 price? This Art Journal Caravan is an adventure that is not just making pages, it is learning and laughing with others. It is an adventure, and you can still join!! Then you can get it for 1/2 price too!!!!

Now the creme de' la creme, the cherry on the top! The layouts that the creative team made this week, playing with all the new items made from our Tangie! Playing with the new and mixing it up with the old!

{Thursday Nonsense} Spontaneous

Have you ever done anything at the spur of the moment that is just a PURE spontaneous decision or action? Such a moment happened to me yesterday! It was such a rush, and like a shot of pure joy through the veins! I found out that one of my favorite art journaling artists was teaching a class in Seattle, so just for kicks I "searched" for airfare--I couldn't believe it! On sale for 1/2 what I have paid to go to Seattle for before! So just for the thrill of it I talked my mom into it and before we knew it we were registered for the class AND had airline tickets...then I thought, hey I better call my sister!! To my delight she signed up and we got her a ticket too. But then... in a sudden stroke of genius I got my other sister in Colorado in on it too (though she doesn't art journal at all...yet)...and WALA instant spontaneous girls weekend planned, without over thinking it!

Sometimes I think we can learn some valuable lessons from these moments! Life should have more of these "pure joy" times, even if they don't involve so many plane tickets :D! I also think that our art journals can be more spontaneous in nature too, DON'T OVER THINK IT! That is what I'm going to keep telling myself. You just have no idea what little miracle no matter how small may come from a spontaneous action.

Go RUN do something spontaneous right now! Something CRAZY! Something Exciting and .... don't over think it!

"Freestyle Art based on This Ad"

The Tangie has oodles of inspiration and taking that inspiration, twisting it, add a bit of art journaling, and a pinch of hilarity brings it to this months Altered ARTspiration! The ad was found a while ago, and it popped up this month for us to alter to our hearts content! This means, you don't have to recreate it, just pick something in it that grabs you, colors or one of the elements and run with it!!

All the particulars for the challenge are located in the Monthly Challenge section at ScrapBookGraphics (SBG).
Here are a few highlights from the gallery, that can only delight and encourage you to open up a blank canvas and begin playing!!
First I love the backgrounds and woman in the decanter is just fabulous by Its only ME; Where to Next Darling.

The dramatic rose on display, so vibrant and alive against the old peeling background was just beyond tantalizing to me by defordj; Glory in the Flower.

I just noticed this is the first layout in the SBG gallery by defordj! I can tell you I am looking forward to seeing more!!!

{Thursday Nonsense} Inspiration While Working

What do you listen to while working away on your creative endeavors? We don't have TV/Cable in our home (I know everyone is always shocked!) but we do love to watch movies! Some asked me what I "listen to" or "watch" while designing so I thought I'd share some of my favorites (we have an extra computer in the office that all it can handle anymore is playing movies). Ya'll are going to know me for the old movie, singing & dancing musical loving, fuddy duddy I am now!

Although I have to admit cycling around the 6 Harry Potter movies on DVD all in a day's work helps pass the time as well!

Yes! It occurs to me that maybe I should get some books on CD or iTunes--educate myself whilst I work--- So that is on the lilst of things to to do this year, along with these... I haven't watched these in years and I'm so excited to get them Saturday!

Don't you love it!?! I am trying to figure out this Facebook thing and apparently Tangie was "Tagged" by the creator of this ring. I just had to search her out!! Lilach Oren is one talented lady! I have to admit, I have never really looked at ETSY stores. I am not into kitschy handmade things. This grabbed me because I love the inksplat kit and to see others use it and in such an unusual way!

A relaxing and fun challenge!

This year I was introduced to the world of ATC's. The little cards of wonder! I had become so accustomed to a 12x12 inch canvas, switching to 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 was a bit rough (I admit I do 5x7 and then shrink). But having different size canvases has become a favorite thing of mine.
This month's Altered ARTspiration from Tangie is Gothic Arches. I love how people are using these arches in so many different ways:

Scrappie Irene blew me away with her digital one, but then her hybrid card "Merry Christmas" is just unbelievable with the elegance and old fashion Christmas feel:

Then CarolW took the idea of the arch and made it an entrance to this fabulous scene called Gothic Christmas - altered artspiration:

For a completely different look ladynorth used 3 arches and made this wonderful page "Winter Solstice Longest Night":

As always, I love the comments in the gallery. I do believe that people in the altered world of creating can leave the kindest and most uplifting comments:
